Hi, my name is

Martijn Noorlander.

Welcome to my website!

About Me

My name is Martijn, and I’m currently pursuing my master’s degree in Embedded Systems at the University of Twente. During my secondary and tertiary education I’ve taken part in a variety of extracurricular activities, including several part-time jobs for which I’ve assumed the roles of software developer, teaching assistant, and DevOps engineer.

After my second year at university I joined the 2019 edition of Solar Team Twente. It taught me a lot about working in a multidisciplinary team and how to apply your technical skillsets in demanding and practical situations.

Throughout these jobs and projects I have gained, among others, experience with the following platforms, technologies, and programming languages:
  • Zephyr
  • FreeRTOS
  • STM32
  • NRF82/83
  • PIC18
  • Kubernetes
  • (Embedded) C/C++
  • Python
  • VHDL

Experience

Embedded Software Intern - Movella
Jan 2023 - May 2023
The focus of my intership was to determine the feasibility of using Zephyr in one of the company’s products. This included setting up Zephyr on existing hardware.
DevOps and Software Engineer - Broekhuis
Mar 2020 - Jan 2023

Worked as a part-time DevOps- and Software Engineer on a range of projects.

  • Setup a Kubernetes cluster using GKE to replace the existing VPS platform for running web applications to make the platoform more scalable. This included setting up CI pipelines and connecting the websites to other Google Cloud services. The platform also provided Broekhuis with a method to quickly deploy scalable microservices.
  • Helped on desigining and building several python-based microservices responsible for moving data between websites.
Data Acquisition - Solar Team Twente
June 2018 - June 2020

During the 2019 edition of Solar Team Twente I worked full-time as the Data Acquisist of the team. Since then, I’ve been active in a part-time manner by providing advise to new editions and helping design and write embedded code.

  • Improved and maintained the telemetry software used to monitor the car during both the testing of the car and the race itself. This software monitors components of the car like the battery and the solar panel.
  • Setup a communication network which the support convoy used to communicate in the Australian outback. This included the use of radio, cellular and satellite communications.
  • Wrote and mainted code for several of the solar car’s embedded systems.
Teaching assistant and Software Developer - University of Twente
Sep 2017 - Sep 2018

Worked part-time as a teaching assistant and software developer.

  • Worked as a TA during several first-year courses like ”Pearls of Computer Science”, ”Software Systems” and ”Network Systems”.
  • Helped design and develop a JAVA Spring based backend that was part of a web platform used in the course ”Network Systems”. With this platform students could develop and test implementations of networking concepts in an interactive way.
Student Service Desk Employee - Veluwse Onderwijsgroep
